London-based direct-to-consumer ethical beds and bedroom furniture maker Warren Evans has seen a return to profit after sales ‘significantly’ increased, while operating costs were ‘substantially’ reduced.

According to the latest filed accounts for the year ended 31 December 2015, Warren Evans – the trading name of Designer Ideas Limited, posted an uptick of 15.1% to £23.6m from £20.5m in total revenue.

Gross profit also experienced a growth of 25.8% to £11.7m from £9.3m, while operating profit resulted in £962,735, up from its loss of £1.6m in 2014.

Warren Evans reported a return to profitability in the year under review to £738,580 from its recorded loss of £1.7m last year.

Commenting within the report, the business highlighted: “These results reflect a positive period of transition that the company is benefiting from. As a result from decisive actions, monthly operating costs have reduced substantially along with significant increases in sales.

“The director believes the company will continue to make profits in subsequent years and is confident that this turnaround is sustainable.”
