Department store retail chain W Boyes & Co Ltd has posted a successive revenue increase for a tenth straight year, as it continues to invest in its expansion rollout.

According to Boyes latest filed accounts for the period from 1 February 2015 to 30 January 2016, total sales grew by 1.08% to £75.1m from £74.3m.

Gross profit also registered an uptick by 1.7% to £17.2m from £16.9m, while operating profit produced a 7.4% rise to £5.8m from £5.4m during the period.

Overall profit for the period experienced a growth by 9.5% to £4.6m from £4.2m.

Boyes revealed within its strategic report that two new stores were launched during the period, bringing its portfolio to 57 outlets, while also confirming that it plans to push its investment further, with its latest opening in Royton, Lancashire, now officially launched.

“In addition to the new stores, the directors have a capital expenditure programme for refitting the older stores. The directors will continue to invest in the store portfolio and employees, to ensure the company is well placed for the future.”
