Dewsbury-based manufacturer The Shire Bed Company has announced that its marketing director, Fara Butt, has been appointed as the first chairman of The Furniture Makers’ Company’s new Yorkshire and Central region fundraising committee.
The official launch event for the region, held at the Aakash restaurant in West Yorkshire, raised £1,500 for the industry’s charity, with more than 80 people attending.
Newly appointed Master of the Worshipful Company of Furniture Makers, Ben Burbidge, also supported the evening with guest speaker Baroness Sayeeda Warsi.
Fara said: “On behalf of the Yorkshire and Central region committee and The Furniture Makers’ Company, I want to thank everyone who attended and made the first ever event a tremendous success. This is one of many events that we have planned for the future to support our industry’s charity.”
Established in 1997, The Shire Bed Company is a family-run business with roots firmly based in Dewsbury, Yorkshire, where it produces beds, mattresses and divan bases.
