ercol is delighted to announce that the Furniture Makers’ Company Design Guild Mark for excellence in furniture design has been awarded to its in-house designer Dylan Freeth for the ercol Marino Chair and Sofa, and also to Japanese designer Tomoko Azumi for the ercol Flow Chair.

Dylan commented: “The judging panel rigorously examined the design and manufacture of Marino, so the award of the Guild Mark is a very welcome acknowledgement of the hard work put in by all of the team here at ercol.”


Swedish-based Lammhults Design Group is acquiring all the shares in the designer furniture company Ragnars Inredningar. The purchase price is SEK 50 million, with a possible additional payment of up to 15 million within three years. Ragnars will be consolidated as of 1 June 2016 and will continue to be an independent company and brand within the Office & Home Interiors business area. The management team, including the managing director and former principal owner Johan Ragnar, will remain with the company.

The Long Eaton Upholstery industry, Long Eaton Chamber of Trade and East Midlands Trains have combined to brighten up Long Eaton Railway Station for the summer by being recognised by the brand logo being on display at the station.

Andrew Mitchell, representing the upholstery industry, said that many important buyers visit Long Eaton from around the world and the station gives them a first impression of the town, “We are delighted to be able to show that the town is proud of its skills and is keen to make a good impression.”


The British Institute of Interior Design (BIID) is delighted to announce the recipients of this year’s Honorary Fellowships: Alain de Botton, Catherine Croft, Rosy Greenlees, Orla Kiely and Karim Rashid. The BIID will present each Honorary Fellowship at the BIID Conference, entitled Interior Identities, on Thursday 16th June 2016 at the Royal Geographical Society in London.
